1. About Mine

Mine ("we", "us", "our") is a dating application operated by Mine Technologies. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user. By using Mine you agree to this policy.

2. Information We Collect

  • Phone number — required to create an account and verify your identity via OTP.
  • Profile information — first name, age, photos, video clips, profession, hometown, lifestyle preferences, and personality answers you choose to provide.
  • Verification selfie — if you choose to verify your profile, a live selfie is captured and compared against your profile photo. The selfie is used only for that one-time comparison and is not stored — we retain only the resulting verified/not-verified status.
  • Location — approximate GPS coordinates used to show you people nearby. We never store your exact real-time location.
  • Usage data — how you interact with the app (likes, matches, messages) to improve recommendations.
  • Device data — device type and OS version for crash reporting and support.

3. SMS, OTP, and Profile Verification

Mine uses SMS (text messages) exclusively to send one-time passwords (OTPs) for phone number verification. When you register or log in, we send a 6-digit OTP to the phone number you provide. This is the only purpose for which we send SMS messages to you.

We use a third-party SMS delivery provider to send these messages. Your phone number is shared with this provider solely for delivering the OTP. We do not send promotional SMS, marketing messages, or any other text messages to your number.

Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply when you receive an OTP.

If you choose to verify your profile, we use a separate third-party facial recognition service to compare a live selfie against your profile photo and confirm they match. This is entirely optional and only happens if you tap "Get verified."

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To verify your identity and prevent fraud via OTP.
  • To show your profile to other users and show you potential matches.
  • To deliver messages, matches, and notifications within the app.
  • To improve our matching algorithms and app experience.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.

5. Data Sharing

We share data only with:

  • SMS provider — delivers your OTP for phone verification only.
  • Facial recognition provider — compares a verification selfie against your profile photo, only if you choose to verify your profile.
  • Supabase — secure database and file storage for your profile and messages.
  • RevenueCat — subscription management for Mine Plus, if you subscribe.
  • Law enforcement — only if required by applicable Indian law.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, photos, messages, and associated data are permanently deleted immediately. Phone numbers are retained for fraud prevention for up to 90 days after deletion.

7. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Phone numbers are used only for OTP and are not displayed publicly. Access to user data is restricted to authorised personnel only.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information in your profile.
  • Delete your account and all associated data.
  • Opt out of non-essential data processing.

9. Children

Mine is strictly for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, it will be immediately deleted.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification. Continued use of Mine after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
